Did you know... Robert H. Goddard (b. Worcester, 5 October 1882) is the Father of Modern Rocketry? An inventor and amateur pianist, Goddard attended South High and earned his B.S. from WPI and PhD from Clark University where he taught physics. Goddard held 216 patents, built the first liquid-propelled rocket, and launched the first successful rocket on his aunt Effie's farm in Auburn in 1926.
Worcester is the second largest city in New England and the home to David Clark, a company renowned for its aviation headsets and for producing the first pressurized space suits.
