About Our Aviation Discovery Weekend

If you have ever considered learning to fly, this is the perfect opportunity to test your interest without a major commitment of time or money. During this course we introduce students to the full range of Aerospace studies, provide an opportunity to meet like-minded individuals and learn more about the Civil Air Patrol cadet program.

Each student will find themselves in the Pilot's Seat actually flying one of the Academy's training aircraft under the highly skilled guidance of our FAA-certified Gold Seal Chief Flight Instructor, William F. "Bill" Allen CFII.  Our Chief Instructor will make the appropriate logbook endorsements for all flight and ground instruction.

All instruction is credited toward completion of a Private Pilot License or Sport Pilot Certificate should the students decide to continue toward these ratings in the future.   If you find that flying is for you, The Worcester Regional Flight Academy would be happy to speak with you further about arranging lessons and meeting the requirements to become a pilot!

During the weekend . . .

Students will have an opportunity to meet and talk with experienced pilots and aviation career professionals.  Students will get a tour of the airport facilities, maintenance shop, flight school, Civil Air Patrol squadron, Air Search and Rescue Aircraft, and a light lunch provided each day.  The weekend itinerary will include:

As students explore systems, weather, aerodynamics, and maneuvers, they are not only preparing to become pilots, but a foundation is being laid of knowledge about science and technology -- the keys to our future.

"In just the last one hundred years, humans have witnessed both the birth of flight and the genesis of travel to other worlds.  Aviation has been, and always will be, an integral part of the unique history of discovery that human beings share.  Our dream of flying among the stars began with our dream to break the bonds of earth's gravity and fly among the birds.  From the Wright Flyer to the moon landing, from the space shuttle to the exploration of Mars, aviation is the cornerstone of our unrelenting drive to expand our horizons and explore." -Jeppesen

Stop dreaming and start flying today!

sunsets, yield lasting friendships.  The students we train today may be saving lives tomrrow as an air ambulance pilot.  Students may also realize dreams to fight fires from the cockpits of slurry bombers, deliver medical supplies and doctors to remote areas, or carry world leaders to critical meetings.  They may also go on to transport passengers as an airline captain, defend our nation as a fighter pilot, command a space shuttle, or be the first person to set foot on another planet." -Jeppesen
